When I first started writing on Medium, I had a lot of expectations. I thought the hardest part would be coming up with ideas or finding time to write. But over time, I realized that writing isn’t just about putting words on a page — it’s about showing up, consistently.

Recently, I ran a poll asking other Medium writers about their biggest challenges. The results were eye-opening:

More than half of the voters said their biggest challenge is staying consistent. And honestly, I felt seen. Staying consistent is something I struggle with, too. It’s easy to get excited about writing for a week or two, but maintaining that energy over months? That’s a different story.

The Real Challenge: Showing Up

Consistency isn’t glamorous. It’s not about having a flash of inspiration or writing a viral article. It’s about sitting down to write even when you don’t feel like it. It’s about publishing even when you’re not sure if anyone will read your work.
