As someone who’s always looking to understand how we use social media platforms for professional growth, I recently ran a survey to compare LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter). After receiving partial responses of over 100 participants, I noticed some fascinating differences between the two platforms. Let me share some of the key takeaways.

How We Use LinkedIn and X

From the responses, it’s clear that LinkedIn is a go-to platform for job seekers. According to the survey, 50.5% of participants use LinkedIn for job search, while 21.8% prioritize networking. Another 17.8% rely on it for learning and industry insights, with content sharing and personal branding taking a smaller share.

On the other hand, X shines for content sharing, with 33.7% of participants saying this is their main goal. Networking follows with 26.7%, while personal branding (19.8%) is a much bigger focus compared to LinkedIn. Learning and industry insights (13.9%) and job searching (5.9%) are less emphasized on X.
