It’s day three of my 100-day reading challenge.

Today, I’m already on page 88 out of 270 of The $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau.

The journey is moving along, and I’m already feeling shifts in my perspective on work, value, and now, adaptability and integrity.

The story I that stand out today was about Ridlon Kiphart, or “Sharkman,” who gave himself the title of Chief Adventure Officer (CAO) for his company,

Live Adventurously.

Sharkman’s business is all about creating unforgettable experiences for his clients.

But today’s reading shared an intense story about a misadventure in the South Pacific that tested not only his adaptability but also his commitment to his guests and his values.

The day had started perfectly — a dreamy setup on an island in Fiji with turquoise waters, tiki torches, and guests enjoying a slice of paradise.

But just as the evening was reaching its peak, disaster struck: the paramount chief of a neighboring island passed away.

According to local tradition, this meant a 100-day mourning period, during which everything on the island would shut down.
